23 April 2007
The week of 23 to 29 April 2007 has been declared the First United Nations Global Road Safety Week.
Speed kills all types of road users - drivers, pedestrians and cyclists. A 5% cut in average speed can reduce the number of fatal crashes by as much as 30%.
The first UN Global Road Safety week is targeted at young road users including young drivers who are over-represented in road accidents.
Be part of the solution: Don't Speed.
